The win streak is now three and counting for Leader Bayama, who had no problem knocking off eight rivals in Thursday evening’s $12,100 Preferred Pace at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

The seven-year-old son of Artsplace sprinted to the quarter pole in :27 seconds before backing down the speed the rest of the way. He was on top at the mid-way point in :56.3 and the three-quarter station in 1:27.2 for driver Guy Gagnon, who needed just a :30-second final frame to seal the deal in a time of 1:57.2.

Leader Bayama, who is trained by Robert Dube, had a length to spare over runner-up St Pete Star and third-place finisher Imjustalittleguy.

Edgar Godin of Shipshaw, QC holds the papers on the 28-time winner, who has put together a 10-5-2 record from 35 trips postward this season. He has banked in excess of $222,000 to date.
