World Champion sire Real Desire, who just added another World Champion son last weekend in Mystic Desire p,2,1:51.4-1:52.4h, has been relocated to
Midland Acres in Indiana. His fee for the 2011 season has been set at $5,000.
The announcement was made jointly by Dr. John Mossbarger of Midland Acres and Brittany Stallion Management's Art Zubrod.
"We at Midland Acres feel that Real Desire, a proven Grand Circuit sire, offers a great opportunity for the entire industry to breed into a new, enriched program," said Mossbarger. "We're looking forward to working with the Real Desire Syndicate and Brittany Stallion Management in furthering his career in Indiana," he added.
Zubrod agreed with the assessment: "The Indiana program just keeps getting better and better, and Real Desire is a proven sire that can go in and have an immediate impact there. I think this year's Indiana yearling sales showed that owners and trainers are looking for top-quality horses to compete for all the money that's offered in the sire stakes; it was clearly shown in the prices they were willing to pay. Real Desire fits the bill perfectly," he said.
Real Desire p,2,1:50.4; 3,1:49; 4,1:48.2, himself a World Champion 2-year-old and two-time Breeders Crown Champion, earned over $3-million in his racing career. He started stallion duty at Brittany Farms in Kentucky in 2003 then moved to Pennsylvania with the beginning of the
2007 breeding season.
Year after year he has ranked among harness racing's leading percentage sires of extreme 2-year-old speed, and this year has been no exception. Standing alongside the best sires in the world in Pennsylvania, his first crop of 2-year-olds racing there in 2010 ranked him as that state's leading active percentage sire of 1:55 2-year-old pacers. Also the sire of champion pacer Tell All p,3,1:48.3 ($1,509,227), to date he has produced the winners of over $23-million with five crops racing.
