Kestrel Clicks In Meadows Preferred

Kestrel, a three-year-old filly taking on a field of accomplished mares, socked it to her elders with a powerful uncovered move that carried her to victory in Tuesday’s $20,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Kestrel was fifth down the backside when Jim Pantaleano sent her after the leader, Cowgirl Hall. The daughter of Triumphant Caviar-Blackrock seized the lead at the three-quarters and scored in a career-best 1:54.3 over Whata Donato. Barn Girl rallied for show.

Chris Beaver trains Kestrel, who extended her lifetime bankroll to $350,400, and owns with the filly’s breeder, Wilbur Stoll Lang.

It was one of three wins for Pantaleano on the 13-race card.
