Lying In Cash won his third in a row at Northville Downs Saturday evening (Oct. 8), capturing the featured $10,800 Open Pace in 1:53.4 and defeating the all-time Northville track record holder Southwind Amazon.

Driver Jason Merriman and Lying In Cash left hard for the lead. Just past the quarter, Art McIllmurray guided Southwind Amazon toward the leader, who yielded for a pocket ride.

As they turned for home, it appeared Amazon was going to open up, but then driver Jason Merriman asked Lying in Cash for more and the team closed the gap and popped the pocket to blow by the leader in the stretch to win by three-quarters of a length.

Lying In Cash is conditioned by owner-trainer Techia Lohmann. It was the 25th victory for the six-year-old pacing gelding by Aracache Hanover who has the nickname "Tucker".

The four $20,000 three-year-old divisions of the Michigan Breeders Futurity were contested at Northville Downs Friday evening (Oct. 7).

Memory Makin (Tellitlikeitis-Bronwen Seelster) moved into a tie for the winningest three-year-old in 2022, with Therealprincess (Source of Pride-Deviliciously Good), in taking his division for pacing males by 3-3/4 lengths in 1:55.2 for driver Brad Kramer and owner-trainer-breeder Al Tomlinson. It marked the 14th win on the 2022 season and the gelding’s 18th win overall.

The filly pacing division was captured by closer Black Tilly (Well Said-Dayzee Dukes) with driver Don Harmon, who co-owns with trainer Krista Harmon. Black Tilly came from next to last to get up in the shadow of the wire to win by a half length in 1:58.4.

In the colt trot, it was ECS Racing’s Saulsgood and driver Art McIlmurray who had a 10-length lead past the three-quarter pole to go coast-to-coast in 2:00, holding off a late charge by Echos GQ and driver Don Harmon to hang on and win by a length margin. Kevin St. Charles conditions the son of Crescent Fashion. Beverly and Cliff Makin are the winning breeders.

The filly trot closed out the night with Fancy Flex (Flex The Muscle-Moms Datebook) winning for the 13th time this year by over two lengths in a final time of 2:02 flat for owner-breeder WHR Trust, trainer Krista Harmon and driver Don Harmon.

Northville Downs live racing resumes Friday (Oct. 14) at 7:30 p.m. (EDT). Friday night is the ever-popular dollar night featuring $1 pop, popcorn, live racing programs and $2 hot dogs. Northville Downs races every Friday and Saturday night from now through Dec. 17.
