The 2009 meet at Mohawk Racetrack wrapped up last night, and some new faces joined some very familiar ones atop the drivers' and trainers' leaderboards

Jody Jamieson was once again the leading reinsman during the harness racing meet, which ran from April 30 to October 5. The 33-year-old driver and third-generation horseman, who won an O’Brien Award as Canada’s top driver in 2007, racked up purses totaling $4,020,517 at the Campbellville oval this summer, nearly a half-million dollars more than his closest rival, Randy Waples, who earned $3.56 million in purses.
Third in the standings, in terms of money earned, was Paul MacDonell, with $2.95 million in purses.
Jamieson also had a good summer at the office in terms of total wins, scoring 136 victories, 111 seconds, and 77 thirds from 738 drives. Randy Waples was second in the standings with 122 wins, 114 seconds, and 119 thirds. In addition, the two drivers were first and second in the UDR department among those drivers who are based at WEG. Jamieson finished the meet with a .303 UDR, while Waples’ rating settled at .249.
Women topped the standings on the conditioner’s side. Tracy Brainard was the leading trainer at Mohawk in 2009 in terms of money earned, collecting $2,285,726 in purses. Casie Coleman was close behind with $2,165,164 in total purses.
Bob McIntosh’s pupils earned $1,354,299 in purses for third.
Brainard and Coleman shared top honours in terms of number of wins this summer at Mohawk. Brainard’s charges racked up 46 wins, 36 seconds, and 40 thirds from 243 starts, while Coleman’s stable achieved 46 wins, 40 seconds, and 39 thirds from 255 starts.
Bob McIntosh, Ben Baillargeon, and Rick Zeron rounded out the top five in terms of wins.
