Amid a stretch of three straight wins during the first half of the Flamboro Downs program, driver Paul MacKenzie took Saturday night's featured $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Handicap Pace in rein to Sing Like An Angel.

Owned and trained by Jodie Cullen, Sing Like An Angel worked to the lead into the first turn and put up a :28.3 opening quarter before The Joy Luck Club (Mike Horner) swept up from last to first by the half in :59. HP Sissy (Scott Young) then advanced firs-up alongside Sing Like An Angel in second-place before flattening out past the 1:27.4 third quarter mark. Tipping out turning for home, Sing Like An Angel dug in down the lane to pass The Joy Luck Club late, prevailing by half a length in 1:57.2 over the sloppy track and giving Cullen her 500th training win.

Sent off at odds of 7-1, the eight-year-old Bettors Delight mare Sing Like An Angel notched her 52nd career win and returned $16.70 to her backers at the betting windows. Casino Classic (Alfie Carroll), the 3-2 favourite, finished third.

MacKenzie, who boasts an exceptional career win total to 8,566, later took the 10th race finale to end the night with four victories.

But some new faces also appeared in the winner's circle on Saturday night as Madalyn Henry earned her first training win on debut courtesy of three-year-old trotting filly Meadowbranch Patsy while Carl Dawson drove his first winner, three-year-old pacing filly Justsayyouloveme.
