Which Ontario track gives your horse the best chance when leaving from an outside post position? The answer is the half-mile track Western Fair Raceway
, which boasts the highest win percentage from the outside posts of all 15 provincial racetracks.
“I attribute that to a few things, one being our slanted starting gate, another being our starter, Brad Pittock. He does a great job in ensuring all horses are on the gate and receive a fair start,” noted Western Fair Raceway Racing and Gaming Manager Ian Fleming. “Hopefully this will be of benefit to those starting in the outside posts in Saturday night’s eight $100,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots finals here.
“The statistics show that you have a better shot to win here from the outside post here than any other track in Ontario.”
According to statistics compiled by Standardbred Canada, the following lists the top 10 Ontario racetracks in terms of the winning percentage from the furthest outside post on the gate:
• Western Fair Raceway – 7.3%

• Woodbine Racetrack – 5.8%
