Thorn In Your Side Wins Preferred

Thorn In Your Side and driver Travis Henry led at every call in Sunday night's featured $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace at Flamboro Downs.

Leaving from post five, Thorn In Your Side cleared to the lead around the first turn and cruised around the Flamboro Downs oval while setting fractions of :27.2, :55.3 and 1:24.1 en route to a two and three-quarter length victory in 1:53.3. Ufdragons Rocket (Alfie Carroll) overtook the pocket-riding favourite Arrived Late (Bob McClure) in the stretch for the runner-up role.

Thorn In Your Side, who finished third in the last two Preferred 2 events at Flamboro, paid $8.30 to win as the 3-1 third wagering choice.

The six-year-old Mach Three gelding races from the Carmen Auciello stable and is owned by High Stakes Stable Inc. The win was his fourth of the year from 29 starts and pushed his annual income to $39,195.

Favourite Cobalt Man ($3.90) and driver Alfie Carroll won the $7,500 Preferred 3 Pace by three-quarters of a length in 1:55, looping Good Friday Three (Billy Davis Jr.) early on and then fighting off Counter Strike (Travis Cullen) through the final half-mile. Richard Moreau trains the eight-year-old gelded son of Rocknroll Hanover for RBH Ventures Inc., Gerrie Tucker and Ciro Gentile. Saulsbrook Peach (Bob McClure) rallied wide from the backfield to come on for third.
