Make it back-to-back wins in the $13,000 Preferred Pace at Rideau Carleton Raceway for Smokeys Luck, who eked out a narrow score in Thursday’s featured race
for driver Yves Filion.
Filion got away third with Smokeys Luck while Chasin Racin shot to the lead and threw down a :26.2 opening panel. That rival ripped through middle splits of :56.3 and 1:26, but he couldn’t seal the deal. Smokeys Luck, who started a move in the third quarter, used a :27.4 final frame to prevail by a neck over Chasin Racin in 1:54.1. Montreal Phil tagged along to finish third.
Luc Blais conditions the six-year-old son of Camluck-Unbridled Grace for Les Ecuries Piramidan of Gatineau, QC, and the victory was the fourth of the season for the 29-time winner.
