The betting public was all over Tahiti Seelster in Thursday’s $12,000 Fillies & Mares Open at Fraser Downs, and the mare didn’t disappoint her army of pari-mutuel backers.

Serge Masse scooted to the lead right from the word “Go” with Tahiti Seelster, and together they rolled the field through intervals of :26.1, :56.2 and 1:25.2 before capping off the front-stepping score with a :28.2 closing panel. The mare won by a neck over Her Own Land in 1:53.4. Taking home third prize was No Guarantees.

Trainer Nelson Craig shares ownership on the five-year-old daughter of Up The Credit-Titania Seelster with Richard Craig of Langley, BC. Together, they’ve watched the mare rack up seven wins from just 12 trips to the track this season. It was the third straight tally for the 18-time winner who lifted her overall cash stash to $134,229 with the win.
