Charlottetown Set For A Tuesday Special

Published: October 1, 2023 06:42 pm EDT

A fantastic card of world-class harness racing is set for Tuesday evening (Oct. 3) on a special program at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The capital oval has a 15-dash presentation on Tuesday evening getting underway at 6 p.m.

Rose Run Quest headlines the finale in a $3,100 dash with some iron tough competition.

The race 15 finale has Rose Run Quest from post five as the morning line favourite off of two straight victories during his 10-win campaign in 2023. Adam Merner drives the Melissa Rennie trainee for owners Blair and Carl Hansen and Isaac Schurman. The 11-year-old son of If I Can Dream is just two wins shy of the 70-win plateau and has earnings of $278,886.

Usurper has been on top of his game lately and will leave from post three with Brodie MacPhee picking up the catch-drive for trainer Kenny Arsenault. The free-legged son of Sportswriter was a winner two back in a snappy 1:54.4 then was a close runner-up his last start in 1:55.3.

Acrobat Hanover has rail control from the Lenny Myers barn with wins in three of his last four starts with Mike McGuigan in the bike. Frontier Cruise ships in from New Brunswick and has post two with David Dowling in the race bike for trainer Jean Belliveau while sporting 13 top-three finishes in 2023.

The "Post Time Picks" like Rose Run Quest to get it all: “Rose Run Quest may be the sharpest horse on P.E.I. and that’s saying a lot but the stats back it up. Slides out a couple spots on the gate but he’s been here before so put another notch in the win column.”

Also in the finale field are Rusty Riley (Paul Langille), Spack Jarrow (Ken Murphy), Cowboy Logic (Steven Shepherd) and Flowersonthebeach (Dale Spence).

The top pacing mare race of the night is in race six with Outrageous Style looking to build off her P.E.I. Colt Stakes Graduate Series final win. Gilles Barrieau drives the morning line favourite in the $3,100 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 dash from the Ron Matheson barn for owner Paul Holmes. The daughter of Hes Watching will battle with JM Sportsfan (Shepherd), Elm Grove Mistress (Jason Hughes), Havarti (Langille) and Ms Moyse (Merner).
