In the $9,000 Open Trot, A Work In Progress, a six-year-old chestnut gelding by SJs Caviar out of the Lindy Lane mare Angela Lane, won in 2:01 to register his first win of the year, for owner Betty Tauber of East Brunswick, New Jersey at Buffalo Raceway, Friday night

Dismissed by the bettors, A Work In Progress ($19.20), leaving from post 3 in the field of eight, and with regular driver Ken Holliday in the bike, received a perfect garden spot trip behind eventual second place finisher Australian Stock (Ron Beback, Jr.), who cut all the fractions in the race, :29.4, 1:00.4, and 1:31.1. St Regis Hall (Jamie Dunlap) came in third.

“His blood got all messed up at Batavia last year, so we gave him some time off,” said Holliday. “It’s good to have him [A Work In Progress] back to his old self.”

Trained by Ken’s wife, Sherri, the $4,500 share of the winning purse boosted A Work In Progress’ lifetime bankroll to $107,412.
