Five Straight For Warrawee Proton

Claiming trotter Warrawee Proton has been unstoppable in recent weeks, and it was more of the same during Monday evening’s card of racing at Woodbine Racetrack.

The five-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Yankee Sally was five lengths away from the leader heading into the final quarter of his claiming assignment, but a :28.1 closing panel was more than enough for the gelding to extend his winning streak to five.

Sylvain Filion got away in mid-pack with the Richard Moreau-trained Warrawee Proton, but the trotter was on the move on the way to the half. He was third on the outside as the field zipped by the three-quarter pole, and he turned on the jets late and won in going away fashion over Demand An Answer in 1:56.1. Third prize went to Girl Drama.

Sent off as the 1-2 favourite, Warrawee Proton is now 14-for-30 this season and 23-for-67 over the course of his career. Claimed from the winning effort, he clicked for the partnership of Ecurie Richard Moreau Inc, Fred Handelaar and Don Beanland.
