Tuesday Cancellations

Multiple racetracks in the northeast have made alternative plans due to the winter storm which has battered the region. Trot Insider has compiled a list of all the cancellations and changes that raceways have announced to combat the situation.

Officials with Red Shores have announced that the Charlottetown Driving Park will be changing its draw date for the track’s Saturday, January 31 program due to expected poor weather on Tuesday. Red Shores has announced that the draw date will change from Tuesday, January 27 to Wednesday, January 28. Declarations are due to the race office by 9 a.m. The race office can be reached at 902-629-6634.

Officials with Monticello Raceway have announced that live racing and all simulcasting for Tuesday, January 26 have been cancelled. Monticello’s scheduled qualifying session has also been moved to Thursday.

Officials with Yonkers Raceway have announced that the track has cancelled its scheduled live racing program for Tuesday, January 27 due to the blizzard. Live racing is scheduled to resume Thursday night (January 29), with first post at 7:10 p.m. Additionally, simulcasting at Yonkers has been cancelled until Wednesday (January 28). Horsepeople are advised that there is no draw on Tuesday, January 27. A double draw for Saturday (January 31) and Monday (February 2) will take place Wednesday (January 28), with the entry box closing at 9 a.m. For more information, please contact the race office at 914-457-2627.

Officials with the Meadowlands Racetrack have announced that the Meadowlands and Winners OTW are closed on Tuesday, January 27. The Meadowlands and Winners OTW will re-open on Wednesday at their usual time, 11 a.m. and will resume normal business hours. Also, the qualifying session that was originally scheduled for Thursday at the Meadowlands has been moved to Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. In addition, the entry box for the Meadowlands’ Saturday card will close at its usual time on Wednesday (9 a.m.). Driver selections for the Friday will also be completed at that time. Live racing will return to the Meadowlands on Thursday night, with a first-race post time of 7:15 p.m.

Due to the blizzard, Scarborough Downs will be closed for simulcast wagering on Tuesday with plans to reopen on Wednesday morning.


STANDARDBRED TRACKS THAT ARE STILL SCHEDULED TO RACE TUESDAY


The Raceway at Western Fair District is scheduled to offer an 11-race program on Tuesday. In terms of live Standardbred racing south of the border on Tuesday, The Meadows (first-race post time 12:55 p.m.), Dover Downs (4:30 p.m.), Northfield Park (6 p.m.) and Pompano Park (7:30 p.m.) are all scheduled to go forth with their scheduled programs.
