This December, Trot Magazine celebrates its 40th anniversary! To help Trot celebrate, the I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club is looking for interesting stories and anecdotes about what you were doing in harness racing in 1974 -- 40 years ago.

In 250 words or less, tell us what you were doing in racing in 1974, or tell us about a great racing memory you have from that year. Were you driving, training, grooming, did you own a horse, breed a horse, were you a racing fan, a racetrack employee, did you win a major race that year, travel to a major racing event, cash a large ticket, etc.

What were some of racing’s highlights in 1974? The great pacing filly Handle With Care was the Canadian Trotting Association’s Horse of the Year following a sensational season that saw her set numerous world records, win most of her stakes engagements including the Jugette and become the fastest filly in history by virtue of her 1:54.2 time trial at Lexington. The Ontario Sires Stakes program, which is also celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, was established in 1974. The late William Wellwood was the CTA’s Horseman of the Year in 1974.

The winning entry will be published in the December 40th Anniversary edition of Trot and the winner will receive a great Fan Club prize package!

Email your entry to [email protected] by October 30.
