Thank you to all of our Fan Club members who took the time to take and submit photos for our monthly ZOOM contests. From April to September we’ve received hundreds of unique shots capturing candid moments in Canadian harness racing.

Congratulations again to our six monthly winners! Now it’s time to pick your favourite shot from the six ZOOM Winners. Click here to vote now. The deadline to vote is this Friday, October 10 at 5:00 p.m. (est)

Here’s a recap of the winners:

April – Selfies Theme - Taylor Spitzig of Courtright, Ontario, took a great shot of herself and her parent’s 10 year old trotter, Twin B Rawley. Taylor has been involved in harness racing practically her whole life. The 23-year-old horsewoman obtained her trainer’s license late last year, and with her Dad, Rusty, they train a nine-horse stable.

May - Mares & Foals Theme – Marie-Josee Beriault, of Les Coteaux, Quebec, who is a groom for Kinnder Farm in Les Cedres, captured this shot of Alexie Power and her foal Kinnder Chill, by Justice Hall.

June – Photobomber Theme - Melissa Chandler of Charlottetown, PEI, took this shot of E LS Colton when Forced To Travel decided to photobomb the shot! The photo was taken at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at CDP. Melissa co-owns Forced To Travel and works as a groom for trainer Gerry Mac Dougall and Judy MacLeod.

July – It’s Post Time – Frankie Lund, Charlottetown, PEI took this shot of the horses behind the starting gate in the sideview mirror of the starting gate car at Pinette Raceway, one of PEI’s picturesque matineee racetracks. Frankie has extensive experience in harness racing and now she photographs the horses and people in the industry that “make people smile”.

August – Horse Crazy Kids - Tania Girouard of Brownsburg-Chatham, Quebec, took this shot of her sons Hugo, 8 and Cedric, 6, “the next generation of Quebec horsemen,” watching a Muscle Mass colt, named "Capteur de Rêve" (which means Dream Catcher in English) and his mother, Noblesse. The photo was taken at Ecurie Provocante, in Mirabel, Quebec, where her partner, trainer Eric Valiquette, is stabled.

September – Meet My Horse – Chelsea Chase, De Winton Alberta and her horse Cinnamon Cracker; this photo was taken by Bjorn Kirby. Chelsea, who helps her parents with the horses every weekend at the track in Lacombe, has owned Cinnamon Cracker for two years, and she’s breaking him to the saddle so she can start using him for gymkhanas. He’s currently racing at Alberta Downs.

The winner will receive a Grand Prize which will include a $50 gift card to the racetrack of their choice and an enlargement of their winning photo framed or plaque mounted!
