Morrisville Sale Average Up

The annual Morrisville State College Equine Institute's Fall Yearling Sale was held Sunday, September 21, at the college in Morrisville, NY, with 130 yearlings sold.

The average price was $10,714, an increase of 4.5 per cent from the 2013 average of $10,246.

The top price at this year's sale was the $85,000 price paid for the RC Royalty-sired filly Royal Encore, who was purchased by Wanda Polisseni. Consigned by Morrisville College Equine Institute, the filly is out of Spin The Planet, the dam of the New York Sire Stakes champion Royal Shyster 2, 1:57.1f; 4, 1:56.1 ($316,131), also by RC Royalty.

George Ducharme, who trained the 2013 Hambletonian champion Royalty For Life, purchased the RC Royalty colt named Reve Royale for $42,000. Also consigned by the Morrisville College Equine Institute, the colt is out of the Conway Hall mare Dream Street.

The 20 yearlings by RC Royalty led all sires by average, generating $18,125. On the pacing side, three yearlings by Rock N Roll Heaven averaged $12,667 while two by Art Major generated an average price of $11,500.
