Minor Supernover, one-third of an Ira Fisher-trained entry, managed to find the finish line just in time on

Thursday at Woodbine Racetrack en route to hauling home the hardware in the $56,000 final of the General Brock Trotting Series.

The strapping son of Andover Hall, who was a 1:58.3 winner in the opening leg of the series, encountered traffic troubles in the second round of the series and had to settle for a fifth-place finish. Tonight, however, he had nothing but open road in front of him for most of the mile.

Handled by Randy Waples, the four-year-old took an early tuck into the four hole while Frenchfrysnvinegar sped to the lead and threw down a :27-second opener. Waples had his charge off the rail and rolling as soon as the field entered the backstretch.

Frenchfrysnvinegar and Minor Supernover locked horns past the mid-way point in :57.2, and their battle continued all the way to the three-quarter pole in 1:26 before the latter took over command. The wire came up just in time for Minor Supernover, who used a :29.4 final frame to win by a nose over a hard-closing Society Kad. Third prize went to Mr Go.

Ely Iversen of Moffat, ON holds the papers on Minor Supernover, who won for the fourth time in his career. The $28,000 payday boosted his cash stash to $85,022.
