Armbro Chronicle Repeats In Open Trot

Armbro Chronicle earned a round trip to Woodbine Racetrack’s winner’s circle thanks to an impressive 1:54 score in Thursday’s $50,000 Open Trot for the duo of driver Mike Saftic and trainer Kent Baker.

Baker, who shares ownership on the six-year-old son of Self Possessed with partners Cal Patterson, Randy Fielder and Wayne Smith, watched the gelding scoop up his 11th win of the season and the 28th of his career.

Armbro Chronicle got away sixth in the early stages of the mile while Scorpion Moon chopped out an opening fraction of :27.1.

Misterizi, who sat second around the first turn, popped off the rail and brushed his way to command as the field entered the backstretch. He rolled the field to the half in :56.4 and to the three quarter station in 1:25.4.

San Pail trotted first over around the final turn with Armbro Chronicle riding on his cover. San Pail took over command at the head of the lane, but he couldn’t hold off Armbro Chronicle, who used a :27.3 final frame to secure the win.

San Pail finished a half-length back in second while Enny Youngman shook loose late to grab the show dough.

Armbro Chronicle, who has stashed away $510,928 this campaign, saw his liftime bankroll climb to $957,692 with the win.
