Tracks Tussle Over Gaming Split

The Minnesota Racing Commission has been called on by a large group of thoroughbred owners to take away Running Aces’ gambling license after the track reneged on a deal to share revenue from money generated from card tables operating at its facility.

According to a Monday story on KSTP.com, the Minnesota Horseman’s Benevolent and Protective Association has stopped receiving a three percent share of revenue generated from card tables at Running Aces. The MHBPA worked out a deal to receive that split of the revenue from Running Aces, which has reportedly stopped making those payments since last August.

As a result, the MHBPA has presented a 200-page document to the Minnesota Racing Commission and is asking it to revoke Running Aces’ gambling license for violating state law.

"It is unfortunate the thoroughbred owners are wasting the Racing Commission's and Taxpayers' time with a frivolous complaint," said an unnamed spokesman from Running Aces.

The Chairman of the Racing Commission failed to comment on the situation.
