Harness Racing at Charlottetown Driving Park

Red Shores Charlottetown is thrilled to announce the start of the 2024-2025 racing season on Saturday, May 4.

The last season concluded with a staggering 39.2 per cent surge in total wagering on Red Shores, reflecting the growing popularity and appeal of Prince Edward Island racing. There were an additional 196 more races run last year due to a significant increase in horse population. This phenomenal growth underscores the dedication and passion of the sport's loyal horseplayers, supporters and industry.

This year, Red Shores will be increasing the guarantee on the Isle Pick 5 pool and continuing the two classic Hi-5 pools with 100 per cent carryovers on each card. The Pick 4, Isle Pick 5 and Hi-5 pools have an industry low 15 per cent takeout.

Lee Drake, Manager of Racing and Broadcast for Red Shores Charlottetown, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "We are so pleased that in the partnership with our horsepeople, our efforts to make Red Shores racing attractive to horseplayers are continuing to resonate. We know how fortunate we are to have such support and we couldn’t be more thankful. We are so excited about getting started with the new race meet and look forward to a great year."

Since the pre-pandemic 2019-2020 season, wagering on Red Shores racing has skyrocketed by an astonishing 282 per cent, showcasing the outstanding support from fans and horsepeople.
