Gate-To-Wire Triumphs In Governors Cup

With two Governors Cup divisions on tap for Saturday (Nov. 4) afternoon at Northside Downs, Revenant and Dressel Hanover highlighted their respective splits as they won every panel from gate-to-wire.

After the second leg of the series was contested in the two $1,700 divisions on Saturday afternoon, the $5,000 final and $3,000 consolation races are slated for Sunday, Nov. 12.

Revenant posted the faster of the two divisions with a 2:00.1 triumph by 2-1/4 lengths. 

Zachary Mullins took the John Hawco pupil through stations in :28.3, 1:00, and 1:31 before opening up to win as the even-odds favourite. The Big Chase (Harold Leblanc) took second, Q Ts Charlie (Adam Lynk) was third, and Gentry Seelster (Mark Pezzarello) finished fourth.

Kyla Macdonald, Tyler Lynk, and Colby Lynk co-own Revenant (If I Can Dream) for his ninth seasonal tally and 27 career victory. He paid $4.00 to win.

Ardon Mofford continued in his Governors Cup success after he piloted his trainee, Dressel Hanover, to his second leg sweep of the series from gate-to-wire.

After posting panels in :30.1, 1:01.4, and 1:32, Mofford and Dressel Hanover continued on to victory by a quarter of a length in 2:02. East Coast Invader (Monica Sutherland) flew home from the back of the pack to take second and Solid Silver (Rodney Gillis) rounded out the top three. A Better Man (Gerard Kennedy) grabbed the fourth spot.

Greg White owns the sophomore Bettors Delight gelding as he earned his seventh career triumph In 19 starts this season. He returned a $2.70 win ticket as the bettors' choice.
