With an overpowering performance, five-year-old As Promised gelding Shadow Promises and driver Glenn LeDrew etched their names in the Marquis Downs record books with a 1:56.1 win in Saturday's first race.

Trained by Shawn Worthen for Carole and Gary Dunbar of Richardson, Sask., Shadow Promises was nearly 18 lengths the best and the time of the mile shaved one-fifth of a second off Kalahari Riff's former all-age track standard.
