Grain Of Truth Takes Pocono Open

Grain Of Truth, who has been the most consistent open or open handicap trotter at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in 2010, collected another victory Tuesday night

With Tom Jackson in the sulky, Grain Of Truth was given a two-hole trip behind Big Boy Lloyd (George Napolitano, Jr.) at the Northeastern Pennsylvania racetrack and won the race with a new lifetime mark of 1:53.1 for the nine-year-old Self Possessed gelding.

Big Boy Lloyd set the table with some wicked fractions in the race, taking the nine-horse field of trotters to the opening quarter in :27.1, :55.4 and 1:24 before finishing a length back of Grain Of Truth. Florida Mac Attack (Joe Pavia Jr.) finished third

Ray Schnittker trains Grain Of Truth, who trotted up the inside lane for the Tuesday night victory. This was the ninth win in 28 starts this season with nine second-place finishes and seven third-place finishes with more than $187,000 in earnings. Lifetime, Grain Of Truth went over the $947,000 mark.

In the $25,000 claiming pace, Buggatti Hanover, with Jim Morrill Jr. in the sulky, won his fourth straight at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs. Carmine Fusco trains this eight-year-old The Panderosa gelding. Time of the mile was 1:52.1.

Fusco also had two other training wins on the night through 12 races of the 15-race card.

The meet’s leading driver, George Napolitano, Jr. had four wins.
