Big Night For Copley’s Crew

With nearly three months in the books for the 2010 season trainer Jamie Copley has to be very pleased with the numbers his barn has managed to put together

Copley lifted his yearly win total to 41 by the time Rideau Carleton Raceway’s 14-race program came to close on Friday evening. Copley’s total number of wins for the 2009 season climbed to 85, and with less than three months of the 2010 campaign completed he is almost halfway to last year’s win total for the entire season.

The barn’s big night started when Chip Dot Com romped to a 2:00.2 victory in the first division of Friday’s second round of the Full Of Trot Trotting Series. The 12-year-old son of Pine Chip drew off to win by more than five lengths. Next up was Camalamadingdong, who also won by more than five lengths in her assignment. The three-year-old daughter of Camluck stopped the teletimer in 2:00

The tandem of driver Stephane Gendron and Copley registered a hat trick when Armbro Acme held on for a narrow score in another division of the Full Of Trot Trotting Series. The 10-year-old son of Balanced Image, who was sent off at odds of 7-1 race for Copley and partner Michel Frenette of Portneuf, QC.

Kyle Forgie supplied his driving services to Whos Sorry Now, who survived a tough trip to pick up a 2:00.2 decision for trainer Jamie Copley. The three-year-old Western Ideal youngster was sent off as the 1-9 favourite in the eight-horse affair.

Throughout the course of the night Copley had piled up a 4-2-1 record just eight trips behind the starting gate. He leads all trainers at Rideau Carleton Raceway this year, and the career-winner of 216 races recently surpassed $1 million in lifetime earnings.

In addition to Copley’s Chip Dot Com and Armbro Acme capturing their divisions of the Full Of Trot Trotting Series, Cowboys Like Us notched a 2:03 decision in the other split. The $12,500 (added) final of the Full Of Trot Trotting Series is scheduled to go to the starting gate on Friday, March 26 at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
