HRA Appoints New Board Chair

Horse Racing Alberta (HRA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Diana McQueen as Chair of the Board effective May 1, 2021.

Ms. McQueen has a strong and diverse background in business, industry, human resources, stakeholder/public relations, regulatory and governance expertise. Diana’s professional experience includes Senior Policy advisor and business development manager in the fields of Energy, Environment, Regulatory, Indigenous Relations and Municipal Issues. She is highly experienced in governmental affairs, having held various Alberta provincial cabinet roles including Minister of Energy, Minster of Environment & Water, Minister of Environment & Sustainable Resource Development and Climate Change, Minister of Municipal Affairs, and member of numerous committees such as Treasury Board, and Agenda & Priorities.

Diana has a consulting business that specializes in business development and government relations at the municipal, provincial, federal and international government levels. She has been very active in her community and has served on the board of Children and Family Services, school board chair and trustee, and as the Mayor of Drayton Valley.

Diana is looking forward to her new role. “I am excited to be part of the future of horse racing in Alberta. I am a big fan of horse racing; and this is an opportunity to bring my governance skills to the table. I am looking forward to working closely with all of the HRA Board members, management and staff, racetrack operators, industry associations and their members.” Her extensive background will bring valuable experienced leadership to Horse Racing Alberta and a resolute advocate for the Alberta Horse Racing and Breeding industry.

Horse Racing Alberta is a private, not-for-profit organization with a mandate to govern, direct, control, regulate, market and promote the Alberta Horse Racing and Breeding Industry.
