SC Offers Online Exams For Trainers & Drivers

Standardbred Canada (SC) is pleased to announce the launch of online exams for trainers and drivers.

To respect the Federal and Provincial Health Agency guidelines of recommended physical distancing during COVID-19, SC has created online exams for applicants for both trainer and driver categories which replace the 'in-person' exams that would be written.

“We have had a handful of individuals recently take the exams online and the feedback has been very positive. The online exams are very convenient as the applicant can take the exam when and where they want. Although this format has been created out of necessity, it is something that Standardbred Canada will continue to offer following the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions,” said Linda Bedard, Registrar and Manager of Member Services.

Here’s what applicants need to know about taking an online exam for their trainer or driver’s license:

  • You must have a valid email address so that a link to the exam can be sent to you.

  • The link for the exam has an expiry date and time and is emailed to the applicant on a date that they have chosen.

  • Once the applicant has opened the link to the exam, the two-hour period starts so applicants are advised not to open the link until they are ready to take the exam.

  • The exam can be completed on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer but it may be difficult to complete on a smartphone as some questions will require some typing.

If you are ready to schedule your trainer or driver exam, please contact Linda Henry in our Licensing division at: [email protected] or 905-858-3060 (Ext. 233).
