Siegelman Wins Five At Monticello

For the fourth time this season, Austin Siegelman won five races in an afternoon at Monticello Raceway, doing so on Wednesday's (March 20) eight-race card.

Siegelman swept the first three races, teaming up with Bootswiththefur ($3.10, 1:59.1), Cheep Sunglasses ($6.30, 2:02) and Gonna Fly ($10.80, 1:58.). After a third-place finish in the fourth race, Siegelman came back in the fifth with Four Starzz Lefty ($10.20, 1:59.3).

In the finale, Jody Riedel trainee Adorabella ($4.10, 2:00.3), a three-year-old Pet Rock filly, captured her first pari-mutuel win and gave Siegelman his fifth of the afternoon.

Siegelman extended his lead in the Monticello driving standings with 85 wins over Mike Merton, who sits in second with 64. Jimmy DeVaux (52) and Bruce Aldrich Jr. (49) are third and fourth, respectively. Overall, Siegelman has won 118 races thus far in 2019 and his mounts have earned $676,073 at this point in the season.
