Petitpas' Gold Cup & Saucer Passion

Somebeachsomewhere gave co-owner Reg Petitpas quite a ride during its racing career. The son of Mach Three took Petitpas to the highest of mountaintops. But having won the Gold Cup & Saucer in 2007 with Silent Swing, the resident of Shediac Bridge, NB has let all know of his love for

the Island classic.

Silent Swing is back to contest the Gold Cup & Saucer this Saturday at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and Petitpas has spoken with Times & Transcript about his passion for the event.

"I've been very fortunate in my career that I've had some great horses that have won major races around the world," Petitpas, 51, was quoted as saying.

"But there's something special about being close to home and that's what makes this race so great. Everyone wants to win it and I just love the way they do it up on the Island for the whole (Old Home) week."
