William James Robinson, 84, of Findlay, Ohio, one of the co-owners of $3.9 million winner Won The West, along with many other major stakes winners, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017, at his Columbus, Ohio home.

In addition to sharing ownership of Won The West, Robinson also co-owned 2015 Little Brown Jug runner-up Lost For Words with fellow Findlay native Jim Koehler of Country Club Acres.

Born November 17, 1933, in Rawson, Ohio, to the late Lawrence Joseph and N. Marquerite (Wallin) Robinson, he married Sally Lee McGrouary and they celebrated 58 years of marriage before her passing on September 9, 2017. He attended Bowling Green State University and Georgia Tech and played basketball at both schools. He founded Act 1 Staffing in 1959 and continued to operate the company until his passing. He was a loyal Ohio State University fan and held memberships in the Presidents Club and the Buckeye Club.

He was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting, and at age 84 he shot his first deer with a cross-bow.

Robinson is survived by two sons, Kyle (Lisa) Robinson of Roswell, Ga., and Brent Robinson of Findlay; two daughters, Lisa (Ron) Geracci of Seminole, Fla., and Angie Robinson of Findlay; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 6, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home in Findlay, with Monsignor Michael Hohenbrink officiating.
