Buckaroo cemented himself into history Thursday night at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

With Marc Campbell at the controls in his Thursday night $6,200 division of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes, Buckaroo laid down front end fractions of :30.3, 1:00.4 and 1:31.1 before unleashing a :29.1 closing quarter to win in 2:00.2 and earn himself the title of Atlantic Canada's fastest ever two-year-old trotter.

The victory erased Waiting On A Woman's 2:00.4 track and Atlantic Canadian record in 2010 for two-year-old trotting geldings. Larry and Kathy Chappell of Marshfield own the two-year-old son of Tad The Stud with Campbell doing the training.

Another Campbell trainee was impressive in a division of the P.E.I. Colt Stakes as Pappy Go Go won his $4,600 three-year-old trot division for eighth 2017 victory in a row and staying undefeated on the season. Campbell drove the son of Tad The Stud to the 2:01.4 win for owner Grayland Farm of Pugwash, N.S.

The other three-year-old P.E.I. Colt Stakes trots were won by Majian Tango in 2:02.2 for trainer-driver Jim Ripley of Amherst, N.S. and Miss Neala Ridge in 2:01.1 with Antigonish trainer Clare MacDonald at the lines.

Daisy River was a winner in the other two-year-old trot division for a purse of $6,200 with Paul Lanigan driving for the 2:05.1 mile for owner-trainer William Lanigan of Montague.

In other action, Freddie captured the $1,850 Open trot in 1:58.1 as part of a driving grand slam for driver Campbell. The trotter is owned by Three Wisemen Stable of Kingston.

Live action continues Saturday afternoon at Red Shores Charlottetown with a doubleheader card featuring the P.E.I. Colt Stakes for two and three-year-old pacers. Those Saturday cards kick off at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
