The Campbell Show At Northside

Saturday's card at Northside Downs featured five Atlantic Sires Stakes races with driver Marc Campbell winning all but one.

Campbell swept the $10,200 divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies with his lethal duo of Elektra Express and Filly Forty Seven.

Elektra Express was a first-up and going-away winner in her division, drawing off some eight lengths from her rivals to trip the timer in 1:58.1. Gold Record (Danny Romo) and Tobins Secret (Earl Smith) completed the top three.

With her five-race win streak snapped in her last start, Elektra Express (Western Paradise - Expressly Hanover) now sports a 9-0-2 record from 11 sophomore starts and more than $45,000 in purses. In 22 lifetime starts, she has yet to finish off the board for owner Danica Ellis of Brookfield, N.S.

Not to be outdone, stablemate Filly Forty Seven had less of a win margin -- six and one-half lengths -- but a faster win time: 1:57.3. Her method of victory was on-the-engine, showing ones at every call through fractions of :28.3, :58 and 1:27.3 before the 30-second closer to dust off Dusty Lane Zendaya (Corey MacPherson) and Woodmere Finesse (Romo)

Filly Forty Seven (Proven Lover - This Marks A Lady) is owned by Darryl MacLean, Katelyn Smallwood, Cory Carver of PEI and Tanya Tremblett of Nova Scotia. Like Elektra Express, she's yet to miss the board as a three-year-old with a 7-3-1 summary from 11 tries and more than $45,000 banked.

Campbell started his day by guiding Woodmere Soul to victory in the sole $2,500 AtSS "B" division for three-year-old pacing colts, then followed that up with a victory aboard local star Nameisonthehalter in the first of two $9,900 AtSS "A" divisions for owner-trainer Lawrence Snow. The second "A" division went to Ashes To Ashes, a 1:56.3 winner for driver Gary Chappell, trainer Jackie Matheson and PEI-based owners Linda Somers, Alan Conway and Lynn Livingstone.

In addition to Campbell's four stakes wins, he managed one additional win with Fleetwood Cam in the 11th race to conclude his day with a total of five first-place finishes.

Iron horse Surrealist won his 65th lifetime race with a gutsy gate-to-wire effort in the $1,200 Winners Over Pace, winning in 1:58.4 for driver Ryan Campbell and trainer-owner Dana Getto of New Waterford, N.S.
