Casino Nova Scotia Halifax has announced it will offer off-track betting on horse racing in the coming months.

According to an article in the The Chronicle-Herald, off-track betting could be available as early as May at the Great Canadian Gaming-owned gaming entertainment destination, which will be undergoing a $2 million-plus renovation into the summer.

“We’re partnering with our friends at Truro Raceway and the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition, which owns Truro Raceway,” Casino Nova Scotia general manager Chris Roberts was quoted as saying in reference to the OTB feature. “We’ve been working behind the scenes over the past six months to a year.”

Chris Roberts in his Alberta tenure was a fresh face in innovative thinking. OTB promoting of horse racing in Nova Scotia is a positive step for Maritime horse racing. Hopefully Chris eventually heads back home to Ontario to help re-brand and implement constructive ways for the future growth of this great industry.
