Winter does not want to leave PEI this year with 25cm wet heavy snow on Monday night and Tuesday, then rain on Thursday and Friday.
However, after 9 hours on the tractor removing snow and 6 hours in the evening on the track with the conditioner, Shadow did get a doubleheader and single in on Wednesday morning, going the last mile in 2:10. I put him in the bike because it's easier to get around my turns at speed, and I guess he thought it was race time - very strong on the bit the whole way.
After a turn out Thursday, he did get jogged 6 miles Friday and Saturday. We waited 2 hours on Saturday but the sun didn't come out as promised until 1pm and now my track is good but 60% chance of rain Sunday and Monday, so it could be only one training this week.
Summer shoes are on now, including the same shoes and leather pads Shadow wore in the last heat of the Jug.
