Island Ocean Trot Series

Eligibility: For trotting mares that are aged 4 years-old and older. Must be owned at time of nomination and declaration by a resident of the Atlantic Provinces and maintain ownership by a resident of the Atlantic Provinces while racing in the series. If leased, both lessee and lessor must be residents of the Atlantic Provinces at the time of nomination, declaration, and competition in each component of the series. To be eligible for the Final, an entry must have competed in at least two (2) legs of the series.
Purse:

Estimated Purse per leg: $4,500 per dash – based upon eight (8) starters in one division ($3,750 added)

$3,600 per dash – based upon ten (10) starters in two (2) divisions ($3,125 added to each division)

Consolation: $4,000

Final: $12,000 – based upon eight (8) starters in one division with twelve (12) nominations ($10,000 added).

Payment Schedule:
Nomination Fee: $100 due July 20, 2020
Starting Fee: $100 legs & consolation $200 final
Conditions:

1. Nominations due by Monday, July 20th, 2020 at 10:00am. Those nominating horses to
these events are responsible for eligibility.
2. Declarations close at time and date posted on the weekly condition sheet.
3. All nominations fees will be added to the Final.
4. Nomination fee must accompany all nominations. Payment for nominations fees must
be in Canadian funds only. All nominations are subject to Red Shores rules and policies
at time of racing.
5. Minimum of five (5) nominations required to fill this series.
6. If more that nine (9) entries are received for any leg, there will be two (2) divisions.
7. The top eight (8) money earners from the legs will race in the Final, the next top money earners (9th up to 16th) will race in the Consolation.
8. There must be a minimum of five (5) entries for the Consolations. In the event that
there are fewer than five (5) entries, Red Shores reserves the right to cancel the
Consolation.
9. In the event there is no Consolation, Red Shores reserves the right to have nine (9)
starters in the final of the series.
10. In the event there is a Consolation, horses that earn enough money in the series to
qualify for the finals cannot race in the Consolation.
11. In the event of a tie, the entry will be selected by lot.
12. All races will be a distance of one mile unless otherwise stated.
13. Post positions for all event will be drawn by the Standardbred Canada Electronic Draw.
14. All events will be conducted under the rules and regulations of the Atlantic Province Harness Racing Commission (APHRC) and Standardbred Canada.
15. Red shores reserves the right to refuse any nomination, return fees, rearrange programs and in the event that the day of the scheduled race, the operation of races cannot be held for any reason whatsoever, they reserve the right to reschedule the race to an APHRC approved future race date or cancel it in which case all monies paid will be
refunded. Red Shores accepts no responsibility or liability for any accident, loss or
damage which may occur on their property as a result of these, or any race dates.
16. All owners, trainers, drivers must be members in good standing with APHRC and
Standardbred Canada.
17. All horses must meet the qualifying standards of Red Shores.
18. In the Consolation or Final, should there be horses with common ownership; Red Shores reserves the right to uncouple horses for pari-mutual purposes as per APHRC Rule 206.
19. If there is more than one division of the preliminary legs or eliminations, each division will race for 100% of the advertised purse.
20. Purse Distribution:
a. 5 or more starters: 50 – 25 – 12 – 8 – 5%
b. 4 starters: 50 – 25 – 15 – 10%
c. 3 starters: 60 – 30 – 10%
d. 2 starters: 65 – 35 %
e. 1 starter: 100%
