Trot Online Head-to-Head Challenge Rules
The top 32 participants based on $2 win wagers (no cap on payouts) on the September 22, 2007 Mohawk racing card will qualify for the Trot Head to Head Handicapping Contest to take place between September 29 and October 6, 2007. Entries open online on Wednesday, September 19.
At that time, the 32 players with the most qualifying (as determined below) will be selected and asked to handicap racing cards on particular days throughout the week. They will be contacted by email, however it is the player's responsibility to contact contest officials regarding their contest status. Contest judges are not responsible for lost or unsent email. The final person left at the end of the contest will receive entry in to the Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship.
Players will be asked to select horses for a specified number of races. Winning tallies will be based on fictional $2 win wagers from those races. From each pairing of handicappers, winners will advance, losers will not. During the Head-to-Head competition, players must provide horse selections before each specified racing card as determined by contest judges via email. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS and failure to ensure that picks are received by Contest judges before the requested time will result in an automatic loss.

By entering the contest, participants agree to be bound by the decisions of the contest judges, which shall be final on all matters relating to this contest.
Ties will be settled by:
a) on-track payout based on fictional $2 win, place, show wagers.
b) number of horses selected that finished first
c) number of horses selected that finished second
d) number of horses selected that finished third
e) number of horses selected that finished fourth
f) number of horses selected that finished fifth
g) randomly conducted draw by contest judges
Any early or late scratches or refunds will be replaced by the post time favourite.
Official Contest Rules
1. HOW TO ENTER: No purchase necessary. The "Trot Magazine Head to Head Handicapping Challenge" runs from the registration opening on September 19, 2007, until the closing of the final card on October 6, 2007 inclusive (the "Contest Period"). To enter online visit www.trot.ca/headtohead. Limit of one entry per person. Email addresses may not be used by more than one person.
2. ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to all legal residents of Canada who have reached the age of majority in the province or territory in which they reside as of the start of the Contest Period, except employees of Standardbred Canada or those with whom they domicile.
3. THE PRIZE: There is one grand prize available to be won, consisting of one (1) entry into the Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship of November 3, 2007 at Woodbine Racetrack, plus air travel and accommodations (minimum one night) for one from the major international airport closest to the winner (if other than Toronto's Pearson International Airport). Approximate retail value of the prize exceeds $1000 CND but may also be subject to the cost of airfare and accommodation.
All other expenses not specifically mentioned herein including, but not limited to, any personal expenses necessary for the trip or contest, are the sole responsibility of the winner. Potential Winner must have all necessary identification and documentation required to prove his or her identity. Prize must be accepted as awarded and is not convertible to cash.
4. THE WINNER: The winner will be contacted by Monday, October 8, 2007. The odds of being selected depend on the total number of eligible entries received during the Contest Period. For all rules pertaining to the Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship, refer to: TCNHC Rules .
5. RULES OF PLAY: Standardbred Canada and Trot Magazine are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems or servers, computer software problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website and assumes no liability for damage to entrant’s or any person’s computer resulting from participating in the game. In the event of a dispute as to the identity of a winner based on an e-mail address, the winning entry will be deemed to be made by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address at time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is the natural person who is assigned an e-mail address by an internet service provider or other organization responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the e-mail address in question. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, Sony reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
6. GENERAL: This contest is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. Void where prohibited. By entering the contest, participants agree to be bound by these rules and by the decisions of the contest judges, which shall be final on all matters relating to this contest. All entries become the property of Standardbred Canada and none will be returned. Standardbred Canada reserves the right to withdraw, terminate or modify this contest or any portion of this contest, or extend the deadline of this contest, at any time without prior notice.
