MACKINNON WINS ZOOM POLL

Tessa MacKinnon of Souris, Prince Edward Island, is the I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club’s Zoom Photo Challenge winner for August.

Fan Club members were asked to send in shots for the Horsin Around theme that captured kids and horses enjoying the summer, at the track or on the farm.

Tessa captured an image of Rowan Walker with Toons, an old quarter horse that Rowan loves to ride in Montague, PEI.

“I've grown up on a beef farm and raced horses all my life. My mother (Tanya) and grandfather own standardbreds so it’s in my blood! “I own horses with my mom and my friend, Cindy MacDonald,” explained Tessa of her involvement in harness racing. Rowan is Cindy MacDonald’s grandson, and will soon be going into grade 4.”

“I didn't even have to tell Rowan to go see Toons, they went straight for each other! All I had to do was press a button. I really do enjoy taking pictures of all our horses.”

Tessa’s favorite horse is her “lovely trotter,” Tymal Tyme and her favourite people in the industry are her Mom, Cindy, (MacDonald) and Claire MacDonald, one of the top trainer-drivers in the Maritimes.
