Journalism Workshop At Red Shores Set

Published: September 26, 2017 03:00 pm EDT

The US Harness Writers Association Canadian chapter invites students from university and college journalism, broadcast journalism, sport media, and related programs to apply for one of two available seats in our student journalism workshop.

Inspired by the Clyde Hirt Media Workshop, which the US Harness Writers Association conducts annually, on a larger scale, at The Meadowlands, the Canadian workshop was introduced in 2016.

The 2017 edition will run Atlantic Breeders Crown weekend (October 7-8) at Red Shores Charlottetown, PEI, with opportunities for participating students to learn about harness racing and its sport-specific media work.

Callum Smith, a Nova Scotia Community College broadcast journalism student, took part in last year's inaugural workshop at Red Shores Charlottetown.

Students must provide their own transportation and accommodations (information can be provided if required). Deadline for applications is October 1, 2017.

To apply, please contact Melissa Keith, Canadian chapter president, at [email protected] or DM @USHWACanada on Twitter.
