Dr. Frederick Albert Passes

Longtime horse owner Dr. Frederick Albert of Prescott, Ont. passed away on September 19, 2014 at the Brockville General Hospital at the age of 74.

His best horse was trotter Pensacola, a 64-time winning son of King Conch that banked over $677,000 mostly racing in overnight events. Albert was also the breeder of pacing mare Abreachoftrust, a mare that he campaigned early on in her career. She later became a broodmare and foaled top Western Canadian pacer Trust The Artist.

Frederick is survived by his beloved wife Shirley (Farrell); children Leina Stendall (Rob), Richard, Nathan, Shirren, and granddaughter Desirée. Also survived by brothers Cecil, Lionel, Russell, Steve, and Charles. Predeceased by mother Ellen, father Nanan, sisters Ivy and Elsie, and brothers Arnold and Raymond.

Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Barclay's Funeral Home, 137 Pearl Street East, Brockville, with Interment to follow immediately thereafter.

In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully acknowledge donations in Frederick's memory to one of the following areas at the Brockville General Hospital: Ambulatory Care Unit, Intensive Care Unit, Emergency, or the Cardiovascular Program; or to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. I had the pleasure of talking with Dr. Albert in the past and it is very sad to hear of his passing. My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.
