Matinee Races At Summerside Sunday

The PEI Matinee finals will take place this Sunday (September 21) at Red Shores’ Summerside Raceway.

Four classes will duke it out for top honors in their respective divisions. The horses in the program raced at four different tracks this season – including Pinette, Kensington, O'Leary and Alberton – and gained points to be eligible to race in the finals.

Young Austin Sorrie impressed earlier this summer on the circuit. During a matinee race in Pinette, Sorrie won in 1:57.2 at just 14 years of age.

The first matinee race will take place before Summerside’s pari-mutuel card, while the other three matinee dashes will be contested after Race 2, 4 and 6. The first matinee race will take place at 12:45 p.m.

PEI Matinee racing is the grassroots of harness racing on PEI. It's fast, fun and friendly. There's no betting; there's no purses to be won; and there's no whips.
