Hanover's Saturday Card A Go

Published: September 15, 2012 12:27 pm EDT

While fire destroyed much of the Hanover Raceway judges' booth on Thursday afternoon, crews have put together a makeshift judges' booth in the grandstand complete with photo finish, timing and announcing, and the ORC judges have given their blessing to race.

GM Gord Dougan says a lot of people came together and assisted in the onstruction of the temporary judges' booth and he’s been happy with the co-operation he’s received from both On-Track Television crews and the ORC Judges. Dougan says after hearing about the fire Thursday both a carpenter and local sound technican
called and offered their assistance, as did many other local people. Dougan is very happy with the teamwork that it took to pull this off.

"I'm sure there’s going to be a glitch or two, but overall I think everything will work," noted Dougan. "The only issue left is dealing with our internet and video stream. We may not be able to get that operational in time for the races, but we’ll continue working up until post time to get everything possible resolved."

Post time for Heritage Day is 7:15 p.m. A total of 12 horsemen and builders, including Keith Waples and Dave Wall, as well as one horse are being honoured tonight.
