Jason Moore Fundraiser Set For August 9

Friends of Jason Moore, who became involved in harness racing horse ownership last year while battling a malignant brain tumor, will host a fundraiser in August to help

Moore pay bills related to a current medical crisis.

Moore, whose brain tumor was declared in remission in June 2008, was hospitalized last week because of liver and kidney conditions unrelated to his previous health issues. He is at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, although he might be moved nearer his Hartley, Delaware home in the next few days. He does not have health insurance.

The 32-year-old Moore, known to many as “Slim,” and trainer Amy Shahan Fleming are the founders of Koshy’s Kids, named after their pacer Kosher King. The charity seeks to raise money for children with illnesses, in addition to introducing young people to harness racing.

On Sunday, August 9, friends will hold a fundraiser for Moore at La Scala restaurant at 117 North Gaston Avenue in Somerville, New Jersey. The cost is $100 per person. Guests are invited to bring their own beer or wine.

In addition, driver Corey Callahan is planning to donate a day’s worth of purse earnings to assist Moore.
