NYSS Rookies Head To Tioga

Tioga Downs welcomes three divisions of the New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Sunday (July 29) with the first post time slated for 1:00 p.m.

In the first $36,566 division of the NYSS, Major Blake (Tim Tetrick) is the morning line favourite at 5-2. The two-year-old colt by Art Major-Bet Your Life is owned by Matthew Bencic, Howard Berke and trainer Sam Schillaci. He has a win and a second in two starts. His win was in a $53,000 leg of the NYSS at Yonkers.

The second morning line choice in the first division is the Ron Burke-trained Bicorne Hanover (Matt Kakaley) at 3-1. He is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi, Martin and Switala. The two-year-old colt by Art Major-Boldnbrash Hanover won a $53,500 leg of the NYSS at Buffalo his last time out.

In the second $36,566 division of the NYSS, the morning line top choice is Buddy Hill (Scott Zeron) at 5-2. Owned by Tom Hill and trained by Chris Ryder, the son of Roll With Joe-Lessofit Hanover has a win and a third in three career starts.

The second morning line choice is World On Edge (Matt Kakaley) at 3-1. Ron Burke trains this two-year-old colt by Roll With Joe-Inanotherworld for owners Joe Di Scala, J&T Silva, Purnell & Libby, Adriano Sorella and Burke Racing Stable. World On Edge is one for three with a win in a $53,000 leg of the NYSS at Yonkers.

In the final division of the NYSS ($35,866) the big morning line favorite at 9-5 is Melodies Major (Tyler Buter).

Owned by Martin Scharf and trained by Mark Ford, he is undefeated in three starts thus far in his young career. The two-year-old colt by Art Major-Hilarious has captured legs of the NYSS at Yonkers, Monticello, and Buffalo.

The second morning line choice is the Blake MacIntosh-trained Jack Nation (Jim Morrill Jr.) at 5-2. Owned by MacIntosh, Hutt Racing Stable, Ridgeway Racing Stable with Ozzie & Reg Stables, he has one win and two seconds in three starts. Jack Nation is a two-year-old colt by American Ideal-Ladyjack. His win was a $55,550 NYSS win at Monticello. He has finished second twice to Melodies Major.

The 13-race card at Tioga Downs on Sunday (July 29) starts at 1:00 p.m.
