On Sunday, August 23 at Hiawatha Horse Park in Sarnia, Ont., Adrenaline, Canada’s Racing Festival, invites kids to lace up their runners and run for a great cause
in the Giddy Up & Gallop Fun Run to benefit The Sunshine Foundation of Canada.
Sunday is Horseplay Day at the racetrack and, with the focus on activities and events for families, what better day to have a one-lap fun run for kids around the racetrack that the horses race on?!?
Profits from the event will benefit The Sunshine Foundation of Canada, a national charitable organization which makes dreams come true for children who are challenged by severe physical disabilities or life-threatening illnesses.
Sunshine Foundation organizes Individual Dream experiences for children and their families. Individual Dreams are as unique as the child that dreams them, ranging from visits with a favourite celebrity, to a family vacation, to a customized bicycle or computer. These dreams are often life-changing experiences that open up the world to a child and build self-confidence and hope for the future.
The Giddy Up & Gallop Fun Run will take place on the track with a noon start. The track is five-eighths of a mile long so all children, ages 14 and under, will complete one full lap for the 1km event. There will also be an Invitation Mascot Race taking place before the Fun Run at 11:30 a.m.
Registration is available online at www.adrenalinefest.ca. Entry Forms are also available at Hiawatha Horse Park.
The cost to participate is $15 for the 1km Fun Run, which includes admission to the festival on Sunday, August 23. Anyone with a weekend pass or special pass can register on-site by 11:30 a.m. on the event day for an additional $10. Sunshine Foundation will receive $5 for every registered runner.
In addition to the Fun Run, there will be a post-race awards ceremony. All runners will be invited to stay for all the other exciting festival events taking place. The first 200 registered runners will receive a complimentary souvenir t-shirt.
Kids, see what it’s like to run on a real Canadian racetrack! Your friends and family members can sit in the grandstand or stand trackside and cheer you on!
