A Governor’s Plate finalist will put his nose on the starting gate against seven seasoned foes Thursday evening (July 26) during an action-packed program at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.

The 12-dash program will kick off at 6:30 p.m. and the featured pace will take to the track for Race 11.

Nogreatmischief is the morning line choice in the $2,200 event and will start from Post 6 for trainer-driver Walter Cheverie of Nine Mile Creek, who owns the hard-closing son of Bettors Delight along with Brian Thompson of Charlottetown.

Nogreatmischief last raced on July 14 in the $25,000 Governor’s Plate final, where he finished seventh (he will drop down in class on Thursday to meet his present company).

Likely To Win was a winner in 1:55.4 during his most recent outing for driver Adam Merner. Oh To Be Me (who will be driven by Gary Chappell) has drawn Post 7 fresh off a victory in 1:55.2 this past Saturday night in Charlottetown. Jackson K Down, the scheduled Post 2 starter, could also draw respect with the post relief. Jackson K Down is to be driven by Corey MacPherson.

Other Thursday top-class entries include Rocking Indy (Jason Hughes), Tempo Seelster (Vincent Poulton), Southwind Ricardo (Marc Campbell) and Give Em Heck (Gilles Barrieau).

The top pacing-mare race of the night has been carded as Race7 and will feature a $1,800 purse. Prettyndangerous (Gilles Barrieau) has been favoured early over Good Luck Kathy (Earl Smith) and Outrageous Spirit (Gordie Hennessey).

Isabella Hanover will look to repeat in the $1,950 Open Trot (Race 6). The Yankee Glide mare won last week in 1:59.1 for driver Adam Merner and trainer Stephen Gass. Holy Molie Maggie is another top pick from Post 4 for driver Cheverie, as well as Post 6 starter Majian Tango (Jim Ripley).

Another hard-hitting group of mares will line up for the card’s finale (Race 12). Drivingthedragon N has been favoured early from the rail for trainer-driver Hughes and owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge. Other top entries in the $1,500 class are Shadows Mystery and Bettim Vicky.
