John Erik Magnusson, who bred and raced horses under the 'ACL Farm' banner, passed away suddenly on Saturday (July 14) at the age of 66.

Magnusson passed away due to injuries sustained in an accident that he was involved in while bailing hay on his farm in Paris, Ky.

A native Swede, Magnusson became an international player in trotting when he purchased Mack Lobell from Lou Guida. ‘Mack’ won his second Elitlopp while trained by Magnusson and stood at stud for Magnusson during the early part of his breeding years.

In the past 20 years, Magnusson has lived on his farm in Paris, which serves a small both a training farm for the ACL racing stable and a breeding farm with his wife, Ann-Christin Lorentzon. The ACL horses are trained and taken on the road by Magnusson's daughters Anette and Anna Lorentzon. They raced Guardian Angel AS Saturday night in the Hambletonian Maturity.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of John Erik Magnusson.
