David Lancaster Passes

Trot Insider has learned that former Standardbred owner and trainer David Samuel Lancaster recently passed away at the age of 69.

Lancaster passed away on Wednesday, July 6 after a battle with cancer.

Born in Sherbrooke Quebec, Lancaster joined his family into the harness racing industry. He partnered with his brother, Jim, of Gatineau, Quebec, for many years before branching out on his own. David raced in Ontario and Quebec before settling in British Columbia.

David is survived by his son, Scott; daughter, Tammy; and grandson, Christopher. David is also survived by brothers, Bob, Jim, Art, Ron, John, Rick and Burt, along with many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life was held on Monday, July 11 in the Fraser Downs backstretch.
