Truro Raceway is gearing up for Atlantic Grand Circuit Week, which will begin this coming Sunday (July 19) and will run through until July 26.
The Truro Toyota Super 7 Jackpot will start on July 19. The ‘Jackpot’ is a Pick 7 with a ceded pool of $1,500. The eliminations for the Wilsons Home Heating Fillies and Mares series will also take place on Sunday. Race fans will also get to watch some amateur drivers get their chance behind the gate for some Atlantic Grand Circuit Week fun.
Throughout the week, emcees Brad McCallum and Kyle Burton will be offering up some of their racing picks, as well as some new contests that will give race fans a chance to win some betting vouchers to increase their odds at hitting that big ticket.
July 23 is ‘Friends of Lilac Night.’ All charities participating in the ‘Cheering For Charity’ program this racing season will be joining us for a fun-filled evening at the races. One representative from each organization will have an opportunity to lead a post parade with Lilac on a two-seated jog cart. There will be horseshoe decorating and colouring books available to all children. Barn tours will start at 5:30 p.m. for those who want to get a behind-the-scenes look at harness racing and meet Lilac herself.
The Nova Scotia Harness Racing Industry Association is encouraging any sports teams to come out to the races on July 25 at 7 p.m. to participate in ‘Sports Stars Saturday.’ Teams are asked to wear their jerseys or uniforms. There will be a beer garden, contests, prizes and more, all while taking in some great harness racing action.
