After having knocked off the best trotters that Atlantic Canadian racing has to offer, Morosita Bi will have a target fixed squarely on her back during the Thursday night (June 8) Open Trot at Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park.

First-race post time for the 12-dash card will be 6:30 p.m., and the top trotters is set to duel in Race 7.

Morosita Bi recorded the fastest trotting mile of the young season at Red Shores’ Charlottetown in her Island debut with a 1:58.1 victory with Jason ‘The Blue Knight’ Hughes at the lines for owner Foxyhall Racing of Nova Scotia. The seven-year-old daughter of Equinox Bi has drawn Post 6 for the $1,850 event. Freddie (to be driven by Marc Campbell) will be looking for revenge from Post 5 after having had his win streak snapped in his last outing. Holy Molie Maggie finished second in last week's race for driver Gary Chappell and will start from Post 3 Thursday night. Other entries include Neal (Brian Andrew), Suicide Shift (Steven Shepherd), and Osprey Impact (Walter Cheverie).

The Open pacing mares will meet again this week in Race 8 and a repeat outcome of last Thursday's event looks like it could be a real possibility. Shadows Mystery, the morning line favourite, scored a decisive 1:56.3 victory in her latest start and will start from the rail. Kenny Arsenault will drive the mare for trainer Jackie Matheson and owner Gordie Ford. Ramblinglily (Cheverie) did all the roadwork in her last start before having to settle for silver against Shadows Mystery. She will have a tough road ahead of her with the outside in the field of six. Also in the field is Miss Machqueen (Hughes), Brodys Leona (Corey MacPherson), Prettyndangerous (Adam Merner) and Woodmere Articblue (Campbell).

The evening’s featured pace will line up for Race 11. Eagle Jolt has drawn Post 5 and has been installed as the morning line favourite for trainer-driver Campbell and owners Wilbur and Marie MacDonald. The hard-hitting field of seven also includes top notch pacers like Simon Said (MacPherson), who is fresh off a win in 1:57.4, from Post 3; Elm Grove Kaboom (Earl Smith), who is riding five straight top-two finishes into the race, from Post 6; and Junebugs Baby (Myles Heffernan), who has been saddled with Post 7 after having dropped down from the Preferred ranks. Other entries include Hemingway (Vincent Poulton), Likely To Win (Merner) and The Big Bite (Arsenault).
