Jeanne Marie Staffrey Passes

Jeanne Marie Staffrey, 90, passed away on Saturday, June 3 at the Hospice House.

She was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio, the daughter of Eugene and Mabel (Berndt) Kreitzburg.

Staffrey was a member of Christ Church in Boardman.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Dominic Staffrey, whom she married April 1, 1944 and who died March 30, 2015. She and Dominic spent 40 years together in the harness racing industry. She served more than 30 years as an officer of the Canfield Harness Horsemen’s Association and was once a director of the Ohio Harness Horsemen's Association.

She supported Dominic’s POW status as treasurer/secretary of the POW’s for many years.

Staffrey is survived by her siblings, Almagene (Bob) Brown, Edward (Millie) Kreitzburg, Raymond Kreitzburg and Charles (Sandy) Kreitzburg; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Chris.

Services celebrating her life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday (June 8) at the Lane Family Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel. Family and friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Brunstetters cemetery.
